In memory of Judith McFadyen

“Because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us
from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

Judith McFadyen, my mother in law, has gone Home to be with my father in law today around 5.30am New Zealand time.

I did this sketch for her as a gift in 2011. She is with her deceased husband and her 4 lovely adult children.

In sadness, she has left her children. In joyfulness, she is gone Home to be with our Lord Jesus, and be reunited with her beloved husband. No more pain and suffering.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. ” (John 11:25 NKJV)

Life is short, like a breath of vapour. I am grateful that she brought life to my precious and wonderful husband years ago.

The Burning Bush

This painting was done over two years period of time, layer by layer.

Mixed media on canvas
195.0cm x 120.5cm x 4.3cm

The burning bush
A blazing of flame from within
Yet not consumed by the fire

It’s the holy ground
Where Moses met the eternal God
The voice said ” I will certainly be with you. “

This was where the story all began
Moses confronted the pharaoh
” Let my people go “
The Hebrews came out of slavery

This is where we can all be transformed
when we encounter the living God

Celebration for the New Home

Where my help comes from ?

” My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven & the earth. ” – Psalm

This painting was inspired by my Persian friend Saeedeh, Ali & Shahrad, to celebrate for their new home in New Zealand. The painting was used the traditional Asian ink stone, brush and watercolour technic.

Hormosira

This is a family co-operated art work by Marc, Dreama and Psalm McFadyen. We didn’t make it into Merit or first and second prizes, but it was selected into one of the finalists at Estuary Art Awards 2016, which was exhibited in Uxbridge Malcolm Smith Gallery. The theme of it was “ Saving the Tamaki Estuary “.

Table Design – series 1 to 3

Complete Upcycling

Here are a few table projects that made domestic and overseas with recycled cardboards, recycled fabric, acrylic paints, spray glue, PVA glue and some old A0 photography papers.

Nairobi, Kenya,
Art Residency.

This project was made in June, 2019, locally in Nairobi. Then, gifted to Children at risk programme locally.

Consumerism

We consume many packaging daily. This project was made by all kind of packing plastic or foil around we used everyday.

Simply photography

These two tables are made by two one-piece-of-photography shot by my husband, Marc. One is black and white portrait shot, the other one is a landscape in Suva, Fiji.

The galaxy

Psalm 19: 1-4 (NKJV)

The heaven declares the glory of God,
and the firmament show His handiwork.

Day unto day utters speech,
and night unto night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun.

Musical Diptych and the letterbox

Artwork Description:

Mixed media on canvas Size: 30cm x 40cm x 3.5cm.(L) 30cm x 22.5cm x 3.5cm. (R)

This work expresses my passion for music and the way it visually resonates. When I hear sounds of the piano or violin it paints an atmosphere and leaves an impression.

From canvas to our letterbox, from 2D to 3D, from mixed media to oil paints.

I decorated our letter box with the scripture from Psalm 9:9 to match with our residential number.

The LORD will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in time of trouble.

Psalm 9:9

The Praying Girl

A young girl sends up her prayers during the chaos and uncertainty of this year.

“Through Jesus, God created everything in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen things, including spiritual powers, lords, rulers, and authorities. God created the whole universe through him and for him.”

Colossians 1:16

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Size: 76cm x 50cm x 3.5cm (High, Width, Depth)

By: Dreama McFadyen

Note: I started to paint this painting during Auckland’s 1st lockdown in April 2020, and just finished it before the 2nd lockdown happened in August. The portrait of this girl is my daughter, Psalm.

Where the Holy Spirit is There is Liberty.

One of my favourite paintings that I did in the past.

It was inspired by an Iranian woman’s story. She had a very tough and rough upbringing just like the roaring sea in the background of the painting.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. – John 16:13A ( NKJV)

She encountered her Redeemer, she has been upheld by the hands of the Creator of the Universe ever since.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. – John 14:6 NIV

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.-
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NKJ)

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I (Jesus) came that they may have life and have it abundantly. – John 10:10 (NLT)

The encounter with Jesus Christ brought a burst of light into her life. She understood her sins were forgiven by Jesus’ sacrifice, and there is new life and new hope after His resurrection. Where there is Holy Spirit there is Freedom. In the midst of tribulation and difficulties in the world, the woman has the peace that surpasses all understanding, which comes from Jesus Christ.
